Fr Stephen's Last Sunday at St Nicolas' Church

Fr Stephen receives a book of signatures and messages from the congregation Fr Stephen receives a large cheque
At the end of the service John Elliott paid tribute to Fr Stephen and our wardens presented him and Vicky
with a book of signatures and messages from the congregation and several gifts.

Fr Stephen and Sunday Club

At Fr Stephen and Vicky’s last service Sunday Club gave them a card which we had made. We had to draw a picture of us so they can remember us. These were stuck inside the massive card. I also had a special job to do: I gave Vicky some flowers. They smelt beautiful and were so big Leah helped carry them with me. I feel sad that they are leaving because they were special. I hope he will be happy with his sheep.

Fr Stephen and Vicky Gregory said a few words

Fr Stephen’s last Sunday at St Nicolas’

There was quite a party atmosphere at St Nicolas’ on Sunday 29 October for the occasion of Fr Stephen’s last service with us. Nevertheless as the procession entered the full church to a trumpet fanfare played by Edgar Davison there were many with a tear in their eye. At the end of the service John Elliot gave a short speech of thanks to Fr Stephen on behalf of the congregation. It was fitting, John said, that the refurbishment at St Nicolas’ in which Fr Stephen had been the driving force would forever stand as a reminder of him to everyone that worshipped there.

Fr Stephen and Vicky were presented with gifts and a book of signatures from the congregation. The children made their own presentation of a card they had made in previous weeks at Sunday Club. The card was in the shape of St Nicolas’ church and inside were self portraits of the children along with one of Fr Stephen at the window. Many took advantage of the chance personally to say good-bye and thank you after the service over a cup of coffee.

We will all miss you Fr Stephen – Happy Retirement!
